Hey Gang,
Warner is making it easier to get out of those old HD-DVD discs.
You can now swap the cover art (you even keep the old disc) for a Blu copy of the same film.

Check out the details:

To me this only makes sense for someone with a couple HD DVD's lying around the house and no longer has a player. Myself, I would have to be insane or held at gunpoint to fork over another $5 a pop for the blu. If it was shipping only, I may take a stab at a few of the titles.

This actually sounds pretty good to me.
I don't have that many HD-DVDs, maybe like 20-25, and on average I probably paid like $5-$8 for each one, so even after the $5 charge, I'll still get a pretty good deal on a Blu-Ray.

I might actually do it this weekend.  Thanks Gino.

Sounds pretty good to me if they will let me swap some of my Australian purchases for Blu-Ray as I have quite a few of the titles and only payed a couple of bucks for each.

Might sound good to people who are sick of waiting 5 minutes for a disc to load, or who are worried that their HD-DVD player will shit the bed and they'll be basically fracked unless they go buy a used one.

Good post, I saw this yesterday as well.  With the way Fry's and some other places are basically throwing out their remaining HD-DVDs at bargain basement prices...there is a chance to actually make out if you are willing to go the extra mile.  But that would take some pretty good effort.
