So all you Blu-ray collectors out there, what are those top 5 discs that just make your system sing or have such amazing clarity a tear rolls down your cheek?

It's easy to point out the animated titles like Cars or Wall-e so maybe we should stick to live action or concerts? But then again, if Shreck blows your doors off, then by all means, that's what needs to be listed.

-Freaks Top 5 Blu-rays-
  • Fifth Element
  • Transformers
  • Band of Brothers
  • Iron Man
  • The Dark Knight

Teedub's Top BD's

1. Baraka
2. Wall-E
3. Blade Runner
4. The Last Waltz
5. The Dark Knight

Still a fledgling format, but those are the Top 5 for the moment.

Heh, I don't either.  I was like two seconds from buying one several months ago and then just kinda dropped it when my company started laying off people left and right.  Hopefully we will stabilize some before too long.

In no particular order--

The Dark Knight--the A/V on this disc is spectacular.
Iron Man--Not only is the PQ fantastic, the documentaries are extensive and interesting.
Wall*E--Finally got around to watching it. It is a solid package.
Shoot 'Em Up--While the extras are anemic, the film is so ridiculously over-the-top fun that I have to recommend it.
Band of Brothers--It has to be listed.  Amazing video and audio quality coupled with one of the best miniseries of all-time.

I can't quite answer the question yet, but I finally gots me some Blu!

Got the X-Men 1 and 2 on Blu through BestBuy with their 2 for $35 plus movie cash on both movies.  Pick those up tomorrow.

The problem with that purchase, is that it wet my appetite for movie buying.  Its been probably almost 2 years since I actively bought movies on DVD, what with Netflix and the HD uncertainty.  So needless to say I've had an itch that I suppressed knowledge of needing to be scratched.  Now that I broke the seal, I wanted more!
So, I hopped on Amazon and picked up a Boondock Saints/Donnie Darko/Edward Scissorhands Blu three-pack for $44.99 and added Sin City and There Will Be Blood for good measure as I have been wanting to see those movies again recently and they should have fantastic video quality.

Yikes, since you have to review all that shite, we can forgive you.  Wink

I was reading some old posts, playing around with the new forum and found this comment I made last year...

Quote
Wow. I think the Matrix Trilogy will be my only major upgrade since my Panny upconverting player is amazing...

Yeah, says me, 200 Blu-rays and HD-DVD's later....

Jesus, one of those moments when you wish you could go back in time and smack the shit out of yourself for being a dumbass.
