Good Lord, this thing is sweet! Check it out at www.apple.com/iphone, and beware of slow load times. The site is overloaded with curious onlookers like myself. I'm in love with a hunk of metal and plastic.

I still want one of those huge brick 80s cell phones. I'd be the coolest kid on the block.

Well not out in Australia till 2008 by the time I need a new phone in 2009 I this should be on its second generation and all the bugs should be ironed out helping to determine if it is a viable phone or not.

I watched Steve Job's keynote address, and the iPhone is totally out of this world. I always thought the whole iPod should have been a (touch) screen, but these guys went above and beyond, as usual. Thumbs up. The only thing I was dissappointed about was the fact they paired up with Cingular. WTF Hopefully in a couple of years they come with a 2nd gen/3rd gen and not tied to one phone provider. Not that I can afford a $499 phone right now

SAN FRANCISCO - Cisco Systems sued Apple Inc. in federal court Wednesday, saying the computer maker's new iPhone violates its trademark. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, came just a day after Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the Apple iPhone in dramatic fashion at a trade show in San Francisco.

As I understand it, it is just the name that is in contention. To tell you the truth, the whole iProductname thing is pretty tired anyway. I wish they would start coming up with unique names again. Except, maybe for Newton. That didn't work so well for them.

Well, they did change iTV to (AppleTV), maybe that's what they need to for the phone and everything else after.

Well if you have a windows CE based phone you can have iPhone functionality already. Some clever boffin has already designed a skin for the CE based phones giving you some of the same look. Unfortunately Apples' lawyers are assholes and have been going round sending cease and desist letters to all those who post links so a little searching will be required. http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/01/13/apple-bullies-bloggers-again/

Wow nice thread reserection. I got one when the iPhone 3G was released in Australia and almost a year latter it is still going strong. There are issues with the phone but as a piece of multimedia hardware it is one of the best in the market.

Heh, speaking of Iphones..visited my future brother in law on Friday. He now has an I-Phone. It used to be we could actually talk to him...however the whole time we were there, we hardly spoke to him because he was on there every waking frigging second!! The very definition of addiction. Now I know why I carry a POC Nokia. I don't need something to spend money and time on

I will be hitting up the iPhone train in October. My current contract will expire at that point, and I'll have to switch providers.
